Presentations about 'How to Be Interviewed' and some silliness (click here for more)

This week in Professional Development and Communication Skills the topic was job interviews.  Here are some pictures from that day and an explanation of the silliest group exercise I have ever had in my class.

The above discussion of Body Language was very good.  Overall the students in this class give really good presentations.  Their strengths are that they don't have too much information, don't read and keep the presentations short.  They are head and shoulders above some of my American students unfortunately.

Matti and Alisa are too cool to really get too excited by what is going on in class.  Also they know now not to sit in the back of the class.  You see I just make people who are sitting at the very back come to the front.  So they are very good at finding the right place to sit that is in the back, but not so far back that I make them move.

Practicing mock interviews.

I think Eemi is the interviewer.  He is a sharp guy, but I am not so sure his hat would be a good fashion choice for a job interview.

You see the class here is watching the mock interviews with intense interest.

This is the exercise from the second class.  Here Inna is explaining the silliest group exercise ever:
  1. The two people sitting (Alina and Aino) are being interviewed.
  2. The person standing (Eero) is the interviewer.
  3. Eero is to ask questions to each person in turn.
  4. When Eero isn't looking at one of the interviewees, they are to make an extremely funny face.
  5. If the interviewee laughs or gets caught, then they have to leave and someone else comes.
  6. It doesn't matter what the question is or what the person says.  The object is to make the funniest face possible and not get caught.

So I really liked this group exercise.  It was the group of students that thought of it.  It was really extremely creative and a lot of fun.  I am not sure at all if anyone learned anything about interviewing, but at least people really came out of their shells.  I told the class afterward that if they could be that relaxed and friendly during and interview it would be much better than being tense
This activity got some very good attention.  I can honestly say no one fell asleep.

These guys were pretty good at it.  Tommy is blurry because part of his antics involved sneaking up behind Valteri.

Mona is interviewing these students for the job of butcher.
