More Silliest Games Ever for Professional Development and Business Communications (click here for more...)

Here are a few more ideas from students about good ways to improve thier abilities to overcome their Finnish Shyness - one of the greatest themes of this part of our professional development class.

The students were supposed to go make small talk for my first section of the class.  Here is Laura K and Emmi going down in the elevator to meet some new people at lunchtime and make small talk.

Another picure of Emmi.  Anyho some people in the class did make small talk, but a fair number only talked to people they knew already or else did not feel comfortable talking to anyone.  What ensued was a long conversation about how Finnish people are warm and friendly,  but also EXTREMELY comfortable with silence.  It might be rude to interfere with someone else's thoughts, so they just keep to themselves with strangers around and in general don't talk unless there is a good reason to.  Exceptions to this are if you are talking to a really good friend or else if you are a drunk Finnish man, or else if you are a little kid.

In this and the following pictures, we are playing the bar game that was played in Ingourious Basterds.  The idea is that you have the name of a person on your forehead that you can't read.  You can ask everyone yes or no questions about the person on your forehead until you figure out the name of the person on your forehead.

The class wanted to play this game hoping to show how to break the ice in social situations.  Also it didn't hurt to be playing the game in a bar.  So who says class time can't be fun also?

I just snuck in this picture.  It is of me in my super-pimp coat at the second hand store UFF next to GoGo downtown.
